Ongoing initiatives to mitigate debris entering from rivers Annual Poker Run, generating funds for JLA and donations to the Jasper Food Bank and Butts County Lions Club Annual high school scholarship program Publishing, printing, mailing, and distributing the Jackson Lake Magazine, offering information on the lake’s history, regulations, and human interest stories Annual professional fireworks events Implementation of the “What Three Words” safety locator app in partnership with all three lake county governments Improved collaboration between JLA, DNR, Georgia Power, county law enforcement, and 911 for emergency communications Ride and Paddle the Rivers—six events each year Annual summer ice cream giveaways Annual Christmas season “Deck the Docks” event Co-Sponsor & Promotion of local blood drives Free loaner life jackets available at marinas Multiple lake cleanups Volunteer water testing and monitoring in coordination with Adopt-a-Stream Website development and maintenance, providing consistent, valuable content Active social media presence with regular postings about lake and area news and events Consistent monthly email newsletters including area and lake events and news Support for nonprofits like the South River Alliance, which has been invaluable to water quality initiatives Insurance coverage for liability, specific events, and activities Capital accumulation for future trash collection and diversion systems to address debris from the metro Atlanta area |
All directors and officers are non-paid volunteers who operate within an annual budget to ensure responsible stewardship of JLA finances.
